BK2S CQB Kit vs Honeybadger Handguard: Which Conversion Do You Need?

Buy the BK2S CQB Kit when you want the MP5K-style conversion and need its battery compartment above the receiver. Buy the 4.5-inch Honeybadger handguard when you want a conventional short front end around the BK2S's 17 cm barrel. These solve different layout problems. Treating them as two cosmetic shells for an otherwise identical shopping list can leave a build incomplete.

Begin by identifying the receiver, barrel and stock you already have. This matters particularly if your starting point is a BK1S: the family name alone does not establish that every existing front-end part belongs in a short BK2S-style conversion.

Choose the battery arrangement first

The CQB kit's compartment is a meaningful design feature because it gives the battery a different home. Measure your intended pack, its lead exit and the connector together; the printed compartment dimensions are not a guarantee that every nominally similar battery will fit with the lid closed. Leave room for the wiring route described by the installation instructions.

Physical fit is also separate from electrical compatibility. Confirm the battery specification against the exact blaster documentation. A larger compartment does not authorise a different cell count, connector arrangement or charging method. If you are keeping the existing battery system with the Honeybadger, check that the retained stock and wiring route still provide the required space.

The Honeybadger is a front-end purchase

The 4.5-inch handguard listing specifies the 17 cm barrel and included mounting nut. That gives a concrete starting point for the build. It does not promise a new barrel, a stock, an electrical conversion or a change in output.

For a BK1S owner, list which longer front-end components must be replaced and have the complete combination confirmed before buying. For a BK2S owner, check the condition of the existing barrel and mounting components. Replacing damaged hardware while the front is apart may be sensible, but unnecessary service parts should not be mistaken for performance upgrades.

Write the complete shopping list

For the CQB route, record the conversion kit, retained receiver, required barrel configuration, compatible battery, charging equipment and any stock or end-cap arrangement required by the instructions. For the Honeybadger route, record the handguard and its included nut, the supported short barrel, retained battery location and any sight you plan to mount.

Separate parts already owned from parts supplied in the selected box and parts that need purchasing. Ask about tools and assembly steps at the same time. This prevents a low advertised accessory price from disguising the total needed to finish the conversion.

Check the finished build before adding accessories

With the blaster unloaded and battery disconnected, inspect that furniture clears moving controls and wiring is not pinched by a cover. Check that the handguard and sight mount are secure using the relevant instructions. Avoid forcing a lid shut over a battery or tightening hardware against an unidentified obstruction.

After assembly, verify operation with the recommended ammunition and follow the platform's testing procedure. Neither furniture listing establishes a gain in accuracy, velocity or cycling speed. Our recommendation is CQB for the relocated-battery conversion and Honeybadger for a short conventional handguard; the complete layout, rather than the styling name, decides the purchase.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Honeybadger move the battery?

Its listing describes a handguard, rail and mounting nut. Battery relocation is the CQB kit's documented feature.

Will any buffer-tube-shaped battery fit the CQB compartment?

No blanket fit is established. Check the actual pack, leads, connector, compartment dimensions and electrical requirements.

Will either kit increase FPS?

The listings do not establish an output gain from changing furniture. Treat them as layout and handling purchases.
