Fitted under a screw head or nut, the washer's spring tension resists loosening from vibration and repeated impact, which on a Mini 4WD car is a constant risk given the pounding a chassis takes on track. Used wherever a 2mm screw needs to stay tight, from body mounts to roller stays.
Unlike a plain flat washer such as the 2mm Washer (Small) elsewhere in this range, which only spreads clamping force over a wider area, a spring washer's curved profile keeps pressing back against the screw head after the initial torque settles, which is what actually resists vibration a flat washer alone can't stop. Because so much of a Mini 4WD chassis is held together with 2mm screws — roller stays, motor mounts, gear covers, body posts — it's common to keep both washer types on hand. Fitted upside down, with the dome facing the wrong way, a spring washer loses most of its holding effect, so orientation matters here more than with a flat washer.
