The smaller 17mm diameter suits tighter roller-stay layouts than the 19mm version (Item 15160), while the aluminum body keeps unsprung weight down. As with other roller upgrades, some body shells may need light trimming for clearance.
Tamiya's compatibility list for this roller covers essentially the full modern chassis range — Type 3 through Type 5, Zero, FM, FM-A, Super-1, Super-II, Super FM, Super TZ, Super X, Super XX, Super TZ-X, VS, MS, AR and MA chassis are all named — the same breadth as the larger 19mm aero-spoke version, so choosing between the two is a matter of available clearance rather than chassis fitment. The 3-spoke design also uses less material at the same bearing size than a solid or aero-spoke wheel, trimming a small amount of extra weight from an already light aluminum roller.
