Description
This counter gear set puts the drivetrain at a 3.7:1 ratio, sitting between Tamiya's High-Speed Gear Set (4:1, more torque and acceleration) and the Super Speed Gear Set (3.5:1, more top speed), making it a middle-ground option for balancing acceleration against straight-line speed. It fits Super TZ, TZ-X, Super X, Super XX, VS, and Super II chassis machines, and Tamiya's full compatibility listing also extends to FM-A and AR chassis. As with Tamiya's other higher-ratio gear sets, it is intended to be run with small-diameter tires so the extra ratio translates into a real speed gain rather than simply overgearing a large-diameter wheel. Released in September 2011 as Grade-Up Part No.434, it remains one of the more popular middle-ratio swaps for racers who find the stock gearing too slow but the 3.5:1 Super Speed set too twitchy off the line.
