Description
A brake sponge set for tuning how a Mini 4WD car sheds speed before slopes, jumps and corners. Three thicknesses are supplied so the braking effect can be matched to the section of track and the mounting location, including the 1mm sponge, thin enough to fit in low-clearance spots such as the underside of the chassis. Sponge brakes work by dragging lightly against the rail or slope surface, so thickness is really a proxy for how much drag is applied at a given ride height — swapping between the 1mm, 2mm and 3mm pieces lets a builder retune braking strength without changing the brake stay itself. Tamiya's own compatibility tags extend the fitment beyond the headline MA, MS, AR, VS, Super-II and Super XX chassis to also cover VZ and ME Chassis.
