Intended for maintenance and repair, replacing shafts that have become worn or fatigued from use so the drivetrain keeps running smoothly.
Unlike direct-drive chassis such as the MS or AR, where a single gear train reaches straight from the motor to both axles, these chassis position the motor away from the rear axle and rely on a shaft running the length of the chassis, with a gear at each end, to carry rotation across to it. Because that shaft spins constantly under load whenever the car is running, it's one of the more failure-prone drivetrain parts to check during maintenance. Like most items in Tamiya's AO parts range, it's sold specifically as a low-cost spare rather than a performance upgrade, packaged for exactly this kind of repair rather than as part of a tuning set.
