Get the basic tools

Then upgrade in order, not all at once

Once your stock car runs and completes laps reliably, the community-tested upgrade order looks roughly like this: a rechargeable battery, so you can actually test and iterate instead of burning through alkalines; ball bearings on the axles and counter gear, which alone noticeably reduces friction; better rollers in aluminium; reinforced stays to mount those rollers securely; and mass dampers, which absorb landing shock on jumps.

Notice what's missing early on: a faster motor. That's deliberate. The guiding principle experienced racers use is finish, then stability, then speed - a car that's fast but flips on turn three or flies off every jump isn't actually fast, it's just loud. Chase completion and control before you chase top speed.
