Mini 4WD Rollers Guide

Rollers are what keep a Mini 4WD against the track walls, and roller setup decides whether the car corners cleanly or climbs out.

Sizes

Larger rollers, up to 19mm, roll over wall joints more smoothly and are more stable at speed. Smaller rollers around 9mm to 13mm are lighter and let you position them more precisely. Most builds mix sizes front and rear.

Materials

Plastic rollers are light and cheap. Aluminium rollers are heavier, more durable and carry the bearing more precisely. Rubber-ringed rollers add grip against the wall, which slows the car but calms it down.

Bearings inside

A roller that does not spin freely drags along every wall it touches. Check each one by hand and keep them clean; grit is the usual cause of a roller that has stopped turning.

Position over specification

Where a roller sits matters more than what it is made of. Get the heights and stagger right first, then refine the roller choice.
