Stays are the plates that carry your rollers, and their stiffness changes how the car reacts to hitting a wall.

FRP against carbon

FRP plates flex, which absorbs impact and can settle a car after a hard contact. Carbon plates are stiffer and lighter, giving more precise roller positioning but transmitting more of the impact into the chassis.

Stiffer is not automatically better

A very stiff front end deflects the whole car after a hard hit. Many racers deliberately run some flex at one end to take the edge off contact, particularly on rough tracks.

Mounting matters

A stay that is not clamped square puts the rollers at an angle, which makes the car pull to one side. Check that mounting surfaces are flat and that spacers are seated before blaming the rollers.

Watch the weight

Multiple stacked plates add up quickly. Weight high on the car hurts stability more than the same weight low down, so keep stay stacks as simple as the setup allows.
