Description
A high-speed counter gear set offering a 4:1 or 4.2:1 gear ratio, aimed at cars running large-diameter wheels where a taller ratio helps maintain speed. The set includes a 28-tooth spur gear plus two types of counter gear shaft to suit different chassis, and a ball bearing is included to keep the extra gearing turning smoothly under load.

It sits at the tall end of Tamiya's Grade-Up gearing range, opposite the Lightweight Special Gearing (No.187), which uses a shorter 3.5:1 ratio built specifically for small-diameter-tire chassis instead. Pairing this set with large wheels rather than small ones keeps wheel rpm, and therefore motor load, in a sensible range for the extra rolling circumference, which is why Tamiya scopes the two ratio sets to opposite ends of the wheel-size spectrum.
