They act as a skid plate, protecting the chassis from scraping and impacts in corners while also adding underside rigidity and stability. Small parts for attachment are included.
FRP -- fiberglass-reinforced plastic -- is valued in Mini 4WD builds for combining the stiffness of a rigid plate with more impact resistance than a similarly thin sheet of plain ABS, so it absorbs repeated scrapes against course walls without cracking the way a more brittle material would. Mounting the plates to the undersides of both the nose and tail units protects the two points most likely to make contact when landing off a slope section or clipping a corner wall, while tying the nose and tail more rigidly to the rest of the chassis. The set is specific to the MS chassis's nose and tail unit mounting points.
