It holds up to four completed machines along with the tools, spare parts, and batteries needed to service them trackside, keeping everything in one case rather than several loose bags. Small door-style compartments are sized for tools and small parts so they stay separated from the cars themselves.
Tamiya's own product page lists several companion storage items as related products: the Mini 4WD Battery Case 2 (Item 15521), the Parts Storage Box Set (Item 15460), the Motor Case 2 (Item 15505), and the Basic Tool Set (Item 74016), all sized to slot into the Portable Pit's door compartments alongside loose screws and spares.
