A gel blaster battery is a lithium-polymer pack chosen from what the exact launcher names — voltage, connector, size and a matching gel blaster charger — not from a generic “2S versus 3S” chart. Chemistry is the same idea as other hobby LiPos: about 3.7 V per cell nominal, about 4.2 V full, storage near 3.8 V per cell. C-rating is a discharge-capability figure, not a power upgrade. Chemistry: what 3.7, 4.2 and 3.8 V per cell actually are

A LiPo cell is a lithium-polymer pouch. Nominal voltage is typically 3.7 V per cell — the number behind “2S” (about 7.4 V) or “3S” (about 11.1 V). A full charge on a standard LiPo is about 4.20 V per cell; sitting there for weeks is hard on the pack. Storage is commonly 3.75–3.85 V per cell, often rounded to 3.8 V, using the charger’s storage mode. Some “LiHV” packs charge higher; do not treat them as the same chemistry unless pack and charger both say so. Cell count is the first gate: a 3S pack on a 2S-only system overspeeds the motor and can kill a MOSFET. “It clicked in” is not approval. Use the gel blaster battery the product names. Do not assign a pack to an unnamed AEG because another Jinming, LeHui, LDT or RX used one.

C-rating means discharge capability, not extra FPS

C-rating is an advertised multiple of capacity: a 1000 mAh pack labelled 20C is claiming it can deliver about 20 A. That is a ceiling the maker prints, not a horsepower slider. A higher C-rating does not raise gel blaster FPS. FPS is the air pulse from the spring and seal. What a pack can do is hold voltage under the current the motor draws. If it sags, the motor slows mid-string and contacts arc longer — then people buy a “higher C” when the real problem was a heavy spring on nylon, a bind, or a 2S pack asked to do 3S work. Capacity (mAh) is how long strings last, not how hard they hit. A pack that does not fit the tube is not an upgrade. Treat C-rating as a rough capability class, then still obey the product’s stated pack.

Adapters add resistance and a way to plug a pack the wiring was never sized for. Changing connectors is electrical work: polarity, strain relief, and a MOSFET already in the plan if current is going up. Reverse polarity on the first plug-in kills boards. A MOSFET switches; it does not make a mismatched pack safe — see the MOSFET guide, motor upgrade, and trigger-switch anatomy. Balance leads are how a proper charger watches each cell. A gel blaster charger here means a LiPo-capable unit set to the correct cell count, used attended on a non-flammable surface — not a USB brick that happens to fit a Tamiya dummy. Charge only while present. Stop using a swollen, leaking, hot or damaged pack. Storage voltage belongs on the charger’s storage programme, not as a leftover full charge in a hot car.

How to choose without inventing a SKU

  1. Read the exact launcher for voltage, connector and bay size. If it names a pack, that is the pack. If a technician changed the wiring, get the pack in writing from that build, not from this article.
  2. Match chemistry and cell count — 3.7 V nominal per cell, 2S or 3S as documented, not “whatever is on sale.”
  3. Match the connector without an adapter unless the complete system is documented for that change.
  4. Confirm physical fit in the stock or bay without compressing cells or pinching the balance lead.
  5. Treat C-rating as “can it supply the motor without sagging,” not as an FPS part.
  6. Use a LiPo-capable charger with the correct cell count and storage mode. Never charge unattended.
  7. Do not skip the rest of the build. A new pack will not un-strip nylon, un-pit contacts, or un-crack beads in the barrel.

GBB pistols such as the Kublai P1 and P4 are not LiPo rifles. Platform AEGs (Jinming Gen 8/9/11/12, LeHui Vector V2, LDT MP5, RX AK47) still differ in tube length and plug. Named examples are roles, not a shared SKU. Confirm legal status of the launcher with PDRM or qualified advice before you acquire or handle it. Read the legal-status warning. Does a higher C-rating or a 3S pack increase FPS?

No. C-rating is discharge capability. Extra cells are extra voltage, which may be incompatible. FPS is spring and seal. A sagging pack can make cycle inconsistent; it does not mean “buy more C” first.

Can I use an adapter from Tamiya to Deans or XT?

An adapter is not compatibility proof. It only changes the plug. Use the connector the documented system specifies, with correct polarity, or have a technician convert the whole lead properly.

What charger and storage voltage should I use?

A charger approved for that LiPo, set to the pack’s cell count. Storage is typically around 3.8 V per cell via the charger’s storage mode. Follow the pack label if it differs, and never leave a full pack in a hot car.
