Beyblade X Expand Blade Explained

Expand Blade is not a fourth product line sitting next to BX, UX and CX. Takara Tomy's official gear guide presents it as a construction change that extends each of those three lines: the product codes keep running as BX-, UX- and CX- numbers, but the Blade itself is built differently. The first CX Expand releases landed in Japan on 28 March 2026; UX Expand followed with UX-19 Bullet Griffon on 25 April 2026, and BX Expand with BX-49 Dran Strike on 16 May 2026.

What changes on each line

On the Basic Line, Expand connects the Blade's metal through the centre rather than leaving it as a rim on a plastic skeleton. The official gear page's claim is stiffness and stability, not extra mass for its own sake. On the Unique Line, Expand fuses the Ratchet into the Blade, so the box no longer contains a separate Ratchet piece you can swap — that is the "Ratchet-Integrated" construction already described on our UX-20 Glory Valkyrie and UX-21 Hells Nether page. On the Custom Line, Expand splits the Blade further: the three CX pieces (Lock Chip, Main Blade, Assist Blade) become four, because an Over Blade sits over the metal Main Blade. CX CUP's legal-part list currently names Over Blades as B Break, F Flow and G Guard; that list is format-specific and will change, so recheck it before a CX-only event.

How to tell you are looking at one

A UX Expand starter such as UX-20 ships a Blade, a Bit and a launcher — no Ratchet in the parts list. A CX Expand starter such as CX-13 Bahamut Blitz BK1-50I is named with an extra letter pair in the Blade half (BK is the Over Blade plus Assist Blade letter pair on that release) and a 1-50 Ratchet, which is shorter than the 60/70 heights most BX and UX combos use. A BX Expand starter such as Dran Strike 4-50FF keeps a separate Ratchet, but the Blade is the part that changed. Hasbro localises some of these names; confirm the Blade / Ratchet / Bit letters, not the English box title.

What you can and cannot mix

A UX Expand Blade does not accept a normal 3-60 or 9-60 Ratchet underneath it, because that interface is gone. CX Expand Over Blades are CX parts: they do not bolt onto a BX Dran Sword. Bits still swap across lines the way they always have. Official Expand product pages also warn that these tops are not to be used with Burst-series parts or stadiums.
