Chronograph Ten Shots, Not One Hero Number
A single peak FPS reading cannot describe a blaster. Dart wear, sample choice, battery state on a flywheeler, spring condition and the way a shot passes through the chronograph can all change the number. A ten-shot string is a practical reporting habit: it exposes spread and failures while remaining manageable at a game check. It is a method, not a claim that ten shots prove a universal power rating.
Fix the test conditions
Use one inspected batch of darts approved for the exact blaster. Record dart model and mass if known, the installed spring or battery configuration, and the chronograph model. Follow the chronograph instructions for sensor placement, lighting and a straight shot path. Keep the muzzle position and firing pace consistent. For a flywheeler, record battery state and let the motors reach the operating state specified in its manual.
Record the whole string
Write down ten consecutive valid readings, plus any jam, misfire or rejected sensor reading. Do not silently replace a low number with a better shot. Report the arithmetic mean and the minimum–maximum range, alongside the highest value if the venue asks for it. Keep raw readings so another person can see the spread. A blaster with one dramatic number and nine lower ones should not be advertised by the dramatic number alone.
Use the venue's rule
A game organiser may prescribe its own darts, chronograph procedure, shot count or limit. Follow that current procedure for admission, even if it differs from this editorial example. Velocity is not the whole safety picture: eye protection, firing distance, dart condition and conduct still matter. This guide includes no unrun measurements and no universal legal or safe FPS threshold.
