Low-Friction 26 mm Tires 15534: A Fair Baseline
Tamiya item 15534 packages four black 26 mm low-friction, low-profile tires with four carbon-fiber-reinforced fin wheels. Tamiya says these tires have less grip than its super-hard counterparts and suggests several placement experiments. That is a reason to test them on your own course, not a claim that they will shorten every lap or improve every landing.
Build a clean baseline
Record the chassis, motor, gear ratio, battery condition, current wheel diameter and tire placement. Check that all four existing wheels run true before changing parts. Run repeated clean laps on the same lane and note time and course-outs, including a failed run rather than discarding it. Use the same starting method and let the motor and batteries cool or rotate them consistently between configurations.
Fit and compare the new set
Tamiya notes that the hard 26 mm tires need a firm push to seat on their wheels. Install them evenly; a bead left high can mimic a grip problem with visible wobble. Swap the full set first if you need a simple reference, then test front or rear placement as a separate question. Recheck ground clearance and brake contact because changing tire diameter or compound can change when a brake touches the course.
Read the result honestly
Report a range of laps and failures, not only the fastest time. If the car turns better but derails more often, that trade-off belongs in the result. Tamiya's product page describes possible front, side and rear uses; it does not publish a winning setup for your local track. Keep the prior wheels so you can return to the baseline.
