VZ Wide Front Plate 15524: Measure Before Fitting

Tamiya's VZ Wide Front Plate, item 15524, is 1.5 mm FRP with holes for 9, 11, 13, 17 and 19 mm rollers. The manufacturer shows it fitted to a VZ car with the front bumper either retained or removed. The name says VZ, but Tamiya also lists MA, FM-A, AR, Super X and Super XX. Some chassis or bodies may need modification, so a compatibility tag is the beginning of a fit check, not the end.

Measure the assembled front end

Identify the bumper configuration, the hole pair you intend to use, the selected roller diameter and the body overhang. Set the plate against the chassis before installing hardware. Check that screw heads, nuts and roller edges clear the shell and tires through their full rotation. Measure the final car width at the roller edges; the plate alone being regulation-sized does not guarantee a finished car inside the event limit.

Keep bumper choices separate

With the original VZ bumper attached, the plate adds a second structure ahead of the body; without it, the same holes sit in a different assembly. Follow Tamiya's illustrations and the kit instructions for the chosen arrangement. Do not trim a body just because a plate is listed as compatible. If a class restricts bumper cutting or plate modification, check its current sheet before changing plastic.

Confirm what the part changes

The plate offers additional roller mounting positions and a firm FRP surface. It does not select the best roller size for your course. Start with the existing rollers, note their height and width, then test one position at a time. The in-stock item 15524 is most useful when your planned roller layout actually needs its hole pattern.
