The XYL KM9 Unicorn is an ultra-compact springer built around slam-fire and two priming options, with a Talon-compatible magwell. Its upgrade path is cosmetic and ergonomic rather than internal: three handguard styles, an MPX-pattern stock conversion, and an optional adapter for standard AEG-pattern buffer tubes.
Stock performance / design: The Unicorn is a springer, not an electric blaster — the "AEG buffer tube adapter" name refers to hardware compatibility with AEG-pattern stocks, not the powertrain. Its compact size and short prime length are the platform's defining trade-off: easy to carry, but limiting for the highest-output springs.

- Pick one handguard family and match its rail. Standard, Viper and MPX are three different aesthetic directions with their own included rail hardware — decide the look before buying optics mounts.
- Treat the MPX Full Kit as the ergonomics upgrade. It changes both the front end and the stock together rather than mixing a Standard handguard with an MPX stock.
- Use the AEG buffer tube adapter for stock-format flexibility, not power. It changes what stocks fit, not the spring or output — plan any output changes separately.
- Verify parts availability before building around them. Several older Unicorn internals listings have been delisted from the current catalogue; confirm a part is live on the site before planning a build around it.
