Gold plating also resists corrosion, keeping electrical contact reliable over the terminals' service life.
The chassis list matches Tamiya's higher-output Dash-series motors, such as the Ultra-Dash Motor (No.307, 4-5A current draw) sold for the same FM-A, Super X, Super XX, VS and AR platforms — gold's lower and more stable contact resistance than the stock terminal plating matters more as current draw rises, since resistive losses at a contact point scale with the square of the current passing through it. Reliable contact here also protects lap-to-lap consistency, since a terminal that's begun to corrode or pit adds resistance unevenly as a race day wears on.

Tamiya 15456 and 15516 bundle five gear ratios, 3.5:1 to 5:1, but fit different chassis. Compare contents, price and fit before buying the wrong set.
We counted every non-kit SKU in our own 289-item Tamiya catalogue by named chassis. MS, AR and Super XX lead, but two-thirds of parts name no chassis at all.
