Tamiya 72mm Hollow Stainless Steel Shafts(15297)
In stock
Description
A pair of 72mm hollow stainless steel shafts that cut roughly a third of the weight of the kit-standard solid shafts while retaining the durability of steel construction, for a lighter, quicker-accelerating drivetrain on Super X and Super XX chassis cars.
- Length: 72mm
- Material: hollow stainless steel
- Quantity: 2 shafts
- Roughly 1/3 lighter than solid kit-standard shafts
- Compatible chassis: Super X, Super XX
These shafts are the driveline counterpart to Tamiya's Hollow Propeller Shaft for the same chassis family (No.234): the propeller shaft carries drive from the gearbox to the axle, while these 72mm shafts lighten a separate driveline component, so a racer chasing minimum rotating mass on a Super X or Super XX car typically fits both rather than choosing one. The same hollow-steel approach, shedding mass while keeping steel's strength over a lighter but softer material, appears again on the older Super-1/TZ-family 1.4mm Hollow Propeller Shaft (No.205), suggesting it's a consistent tuning philosophy Tamiya has carried across chassis generations rather than a one-off part.
