Where the kit-standard cover simply clips into place, this version is secured with four screws, holding the gearbox together more rigidly and resisting flex at high speed -- flex in this area can let the gears skip mesh under load. Small parts for attachment are included.
The stock MS chassis gear cover relies on friction-fit clips to stay seated over the gearbox, which can work loose under the vibration and impacts of racing and let the cover -- and the gears beneath it -- shift slightly out of alignment. Because this reinforced cover is held down with four screws instead of clips, it keeps even pressure on the gearbox housing throughout a run, which matters because flex there lets gear mesh spacing change under load and can cause teeth to skip or grind. It replaces both the gear cover and battery cover as a pair, so both should be fitted together rather than mixed with the stock clip-on parts.

We counted every non-kit SKU in our own 289-item Tamiya catalogue by named chassis. MS, AR and Super XX lead, but two-thirds of parts name no chassis at all.
