Description

A pair of precision-machined, straight gear shafts finished with a fluorine coating to reduce friction and promote smoother, more efficient rotation than an uncoated stock shaft. Being a straight-shaft design, they fit the wide range of gearbox types used across Tamiya's chassis lineup, from the older Type 2/4/5 and Zero/FM gearboxes through to the current MA and MS chassis.

  • Fluorine-coated surface for reduced friction
  • Quantity: 2 shafts, straight type
  • Compatible with Type 2, Type 4, Type 5, Zero, FM, Super-1, Super FM, Super TZ, Super TZ-X, MA and MS chassis cars

A straight gear shaft carries the counter gear or crown gear on many of Tamiya's chassis and simply needs to spin freely in its mounting bore, which is why the fluorine coating is applied here rather than to a bent or step-shaped shaft -- its benefit is purely rotational friction reduction, not fitment. Rotational drag at a gear shaft is multiplied through the gear train the same way friction at the counter gear bearing is, so a coated shaft is one of several small upgrades -- alongside bearings and grease -- that racers stack together for a cumulative gain rather than one large improvement.
