Tamiya Brake Sponge Set (3 Types)(15441)

This set supplies sponge brake material fitted ahead of jump sections to shave a little speed off a Mini 4WD machine before it leaves the track, reducing the chance of it flying off on landing. Three sponge types with different friction levels are included so the amount of braking can be matched to a specific track's jump layout instead of relying on one fixed setting. Tamiya lists the set as compatible with Super-II, Super XX, MS, AR, MA, VZ, and ME chassis machines, covering essentially the full range of chassis with a rear brake-mounting area. Released in November 2011 alongside the 60mm hollow stainless shaft as Grade-Up Part No.441, the sponge sheets are typically cut to size and applied to the underside of the chassis just ahead of a jump, so the car's own weight compresses them into the track surface on the way up, bleeding off speed before the car becomes airborne.
