Ratchet Teeth Wear: Inspect, Retire or Replace?

Ratchet engagement changes when a lock point is cracked or worn. A top that once assembled firmly but now releases unexpectedly deserves a stop-and-inspect check. Normal surface marks and a damaged locking feature are different things; an article cannot certify a part from a photograph alone. Use the exact Beyblade X manual, compare with a known-good assembly and set aside anything that no longer locks as directed.

Identify the Ratchet

Note its full number and the product code it came from. Clean off loose surface dust only as the manual permits, then inspect each visible lock point under good light. Look for missing material, a stress-white line, a crack or a shape that differs from an unworn copy. Inspect the mating Blade and Bit surfaces too; a sound Ratchet cannot lock correctly against damaged companion parts.

Compare assembly feel without force

Follow Takara Tomy's illustrated order and motion. A part should engage as instructed, without tools, adhesive or extra pressure. If one combination slips, try the manufacturer's documented combination or a known-good part only to localize the fault. Do not use a live high-speed launch as a diagnostic test for a top that already separates in your hands.

Retire a suspect part

Photograph the damage and exact item code for a support inquiry. Gluing, filing or heat-shaping a spinning lock can create another failure point; do not treat such a repair as manufacturer-approved. Replace through an official compatible release when one is available, and check the current event rules before using the replacement in competition.

Does every scratch mean the Ratchet is unsafe?

A cosmetic mark is different from a cracked or unreliable lock; inspect the exact mechanism and stop if uncertain.
