Soar Phoenix vs Phoenix Wing: Hasbro and Takara Tomy Compared

Soar Phoenix is Hasbro's name for Phoenix Wing, Takara Tomy's BX-23. Both are sold as 9-60GF with a string launcher, which makes this the closest like-for-like pair between the two brands. The top is a heavy three-blade attacker on a 9-60 Ratchet and a Gear Flat Bit. The main differences are the name, the code and the release date.

The top

Takara Tomy describes Phoenix Wing as a metal-painted, heavy three-blade Blade. It also warns that the paint coating may peel off with use. That is a property of the painted finish, and it is normal, not a sign of a fake. The Gear Flat Bit adds teeth for picking up the stadium rail, which helps the top dash and hit hard. Our Phoenix Wing guide covers how it is used.

Hasbro describes its Beyblade X tops as identical in weight, feel and performance to Takara Tomy's, and we found no reliable report of a mould difference for this Blade. Hasbro trusted it enough to build its 2025 North American World Championship qualifiers around the Soar Phoenix set.

The string launcher

The launcher is why this pair is a good buy for a first serious Beyblade. A string launcher lets you pull a longer, more controlled launch than an entry launcher. Both versions of this set include one, so you get the same kind of launcher whichever brand you buy. Like every Beyblade X launcher, it is right-spin and fits only Beyblade X tops. Our string launcher guide explains how to use it and how to look after the string.

Hasbro variants

Hasbro has also sold the Blade on other Ratchet and Bit combos as boosters. Treat any listing that is not 9-60GF as a different combo, whichever brand it is. Takara Tomy's own reissues and colour variants carry their own codes, so read the code before assuming it is BX-23.

Which should you buy in Malaysia?

For official Takara Tomy Asia events, buy BX-23. The regional regulations allow only products officially released and distributed in your own country. A Hasbro Soar Phoenix set is a genuine product that works with Takara Tomy parts and stadiums at home, but it is not distributed here. See the Takara Tomy vs Hasbro overview for the wider picture.
