Sword Dran vs Dran Sword: Hasbro and Takara Tomy Compared
Sword Dran and Dran Sword are the same Beyblade. Dran Sword 3-60F is Takara Tomy's BX-01, the first starter of Beyblade X in Japan. Sword Dran 3-60F is the name Hasbro gave the same top in the West. The Blade, the 3-60 Ratchet and the Flat Bit are the same parts. What differs is the box, the code, the launcher in the box and when it came out.

Takara Tomy also sold a cheaper BX-22 Dran Sword Entry Package (2 December 2023, ¥1,400), which comes with a simpler Entry Launcher instead of the Winder Launcher. If a Malaysian listing just says "Dran Sword", ask which code it is.
Are the parts really identical?
Hasbro's launch announcement promised Beyblade X tops "identical in weight, feel, and performance" across both brands. Weight figures for Dran Sword back that up within normal variation. A Japanese-release database lists the Takara Tomy combo at about 43–44 g. Hasbro retail listings quote a figure in the same range. Those numbers come from different scales and different copies, so a gram either way tells you nothing about which brand is better. We would not buy one over the other on weight.
One collector comparison reports that Hasbro Ratchets grip Bits a little more tightly. That would make a Bit harder to pull off, and a Bit-separation burst less likely. It is a single unconfirmed report, so test your own parts rather than relying on it.
Colours and Hasbro-only versions
Hasbro has sold the Blade in combos and colours that Japan's BX-01 did not:
- A red Sword Dran 3-60F, packed with Tail Viper in a Hasbro dual pack.
- Sword Dran 3-80B in a Hasbro dual pack.
Japan has its own follow-ups. The BX-00 Dran Sword Version 2.0 is a separate, revised release, covered in our Dran Sword 2.0 guide. Neither brand's variant is the other's.
Which should you buy in Malaysia?
If you plan to enter an official Takara Tomy Asia event, buy BX-01 or BX-22. The regional regulations allow only Beyblade X products officially released and distributed in your own country, and Hasbro is not officially distributed here. For casual play at home, a genuine Hasbro Sword Dran works with your Takara Tomy parts, launchers and stadium. The Hasbro box is simply a grey import.
Either way, Dran Sword is a basic three-blade attacker that shows how Beyblade X works more than it wins events. Our Dran Sword guide covers how it plays, and the Takara Tomy vs Hasbro overview explains the wider differences.
Frequently asked questions
Is Sword Dran the same as Dran Sword?
Yes. Sword Dran 3-60F is Hasbro's name for Takara Tomy's Dran Sword 3-60F (BX-01). The Blade, Ratchet and Bit are the same parts.
Does Hasbro Sword Dran weigh less than Takara Tomy Dran Sword?
Published figures for both sit in the same 43–44 g range, and Hasbro describes its tops as identical in weight. Differences of a gram between listings are normal copy-to-copy variation.
Which launcher comes with each version?
Takara Tomy's BX-01 includes the Winder Launcher, while the cheaper BX-22 Entry Package has an Entry Launcher. Hasbro's F9580 Starter Pack includes Hasbro's own ripcord launcher.

Takara Tomy Asia's regulations allow only products officially released and distributed in your own country, which in Malaysia means the Takara Tomy release. Check the organiser's notice.
