Wand Wizard vs Wizard Rod: Hasbro and Takara Tomy Compared
Wand Wizard is Hasbro's name for Wizard Rod, Takara Tomy's UX-03. The top inside is the same 5-70DB stamina combo: the Wizard Rod Blade, a 5-70 Ratchet and the Disk Ball Bit. Hasbro's own spec list even names the Blade "Wizard Rod". What really differs is the package. In Japan Wizard Rod is a booster with no launcher, while Hasbro sells it as a starter with one.

What the top does
Takara Tomy describes Wizard Rod as an outward-weighted, large-diameter Blade on a ball Bit with a disc weight. The idea is to keep spinning longer than the opponent rather than knock it out. Because the Blade, Ratchet and Bit are shared, the Hasbro version plays the same way. Hasbro's description is a right-spin Stamina top built to outlast. Wizard Rod has been one of the most-used Blades in competitive Beyblade X for most of its life. Tournament results do not record which brand a player's copy came from, so its reputation applies equally to both boxes.
Why the box matters more than the top
- Launcher. UX-03 assumes you already own a right-spin Beyblade X launcher. If it is your first Beyblade, budget for a launcher, or start with a Takara Tomy starter that includes one. See starter vs booster.
- Which launcher. Takara Tomy starters name their launcher, such as the Winder Launcher. Hasbro's starter pack only says "launcher" and "ripcord", and we could not confirm which mould it uses. Many competitive players use a dedicated winder or string launcher anyway. See our winder launcher guide.
- Name on the listing. Some sellers list Hasbro stock as "Wand Wizard / Rod" or "Wizard Rod (Hasbro)". Match the 5-70DB string and the code, UX-03 or G1537, to know which box you are buying.
Which should you buy in Malaysia?
For official Takara Tomy Asia events, buy UX-03. The regional regulations allow only products officially released and distributed in your own country, and Hasbro's G1537 is not distributed in Malaysia. If you already own a launcher, UX-03 is the cheaper way to get the same top. A Hasbro Wand Wizard is a genuine product that works with Takara Tomy parts at home, but it is a grey import here.
