Tamiya Super Speed Gear Set (for Super XX & Super-II Chassis)(15432)

This gear set steps the drivetrain up to a 3.5:1 ratio, quicker than kit-standard gearing, trading some acceleration and torque for higher top speed. It is aimed at the Super XX and Super-II chassis, though Tamiya notes the gears fit a variety of other chassis as well — the full compatibility list spans FM-A, Super-II, Super TZ, Super X, Super XX, Super TZ-X, VS, AR, and VZ chassis machines. The set supplies both the spur and counter gears needed for the swap, plus two shaft types and one 620 ball bearing. Because the higher ratio spins the wheels faster for a given motor RPM, Tamiya recommends pairing it with small-diameter tires to keep the resulting top speed in check rather than overgearing the car. Released in July 2012 as Grade-Up Part No.432, it sits at the fast end of Tamiya's speed-focused gear sets, one notch quicker than the 3.7:1 High Speed EX Counter Gear Set.
