The brake sponges are cut to a 5mm width in two different densities so builders can tune braking force, and the mounting stay has a skid-shaped front edge that resists peeling the sponge off and helps avoid the sharp speed loss that can occur crossing a course's turf sections. It's also shaped to recover cleanly if the car rides up onto a fence after a jump when running two-stage rollers, improving finish rate.
