Gel Blaster LiPo Safety & Care

Lithium-polymer (LiPo) batteries need product-specific care. Use only the battery, charger, connectors and settings approved for the exact product; a blog cannot determine whether a particular pack is compatible with a particular launcher or modification.

Before charging or using a pack

  • Read the battery, charger and product manuals in full. Follow their stated chemistry, cell-count, charge-current, storage-voltage and temperature limits.
  • Use a charger designed for the battery chemistry and supplied or approved by the manufacturer. Do not mix packs, chargers, adapters or replacement cells from unknown sources.
  • Inspect the pack, leads and connector first. Do not charge or use a pack that is swollen, hot, leaking, damaged, discoloured, making unusual noises or giving off an unusual odour.
  • Charge only while present, on a non-combustible surface away from flammable materials and from a route needed to leave the building.

Storage, damage and disposal

Store packs in the temperature and state of charge specified by their manufacturer, away from heat, direct sun and combustible materials. Never leave one in a hot vehicle. If a pack is damaged or behaves abnormally, stop using it and follow the manufacturer’s disposal instructions or ask an approved local battery-recycling service how to handle it. Do not put lithium batteries in general rubbish.

If a battery overheats, vents or catches fire, prioritise people and evacuation. Do not handle a swollen or ruptured pack with bare hands. Only take action that is safe in the circumstances and contact the local fire service or emergency number when there is smoke, fire or a continuing risk of reignition.

Compatibility is not interchangeable

A higher-voltage or higher-discharge pack is not automatically an upgrade. It may be incompatible with the device, wiring, protective electronics or charger. Do not modify a battery pack, bypass protective circuitry or rely on a generic online wiring guide; use qualified service when the manufacturer documentation does not cover the work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use any LiPo charger?

No. Use a charger approved for the exact battery chemistry and follow the manufacturer’s instructions for that battery and charger.

Can I keep using a swollen LiPo?

No. Stop using and charging it. Treat swelling, heat, leakage, damage, unusual noise or odour as a reason to isolate the pack from use and seek the manufacturer’s or an approved recycler’s disposal guidance.

What voltage should I use for storage?

Use the storage state and voltage specified by the battery manufacturer. Values vary by battery design and should not be inferred from a generic guide.
