A gel blaster is a launcher that fires hydrated, water-absorbing polymer beads, often called gel balls or water beads. An electric model usually uses a battery-powered motor, gearbox and piston to propel the beads; gas-powered and spring-powered variants also exist. How the system works
Dry gel balls absorb water and expand before use. A magazine or hopper feeds the hydrated beads into the firing system; a piston-driven cylinder or a gas system then launches them through the barrel. A hop-up unit may add backspin, but its effect depends on the particular bead, barrel and setup.
