Running a small tournament at home is straightforward and makes a session feel like an event rather than a series of battles.

Pick a simple format

Single elimination is fastest but knocks people out early. For a small group, a round robin where everyone plays everyone is fairer and keeps all players involved throughout.

Set the rules first

Agree the win condition, match length and whether combos can change between rounds before the first launch. Rules decided mid-tournament always feel arbitrary.

Keep a visible bracket

Write the bracket or table where everyone can see it. Half the appeal of a tournament is watching your own progress through it.

Keep it short

Small groups lose interest after an hour or so. Better to finish cleanly with people wanting another round than to grind through an over-ambitious format.

Have a tie-breaker ready

Round robins produce ties more often than people expect. Decide in advance whether it is head-to-head result, total points, or a single deciding battle.
