What the Two Numbers Mean

Every Ratchet is stamped with a code like 3-60, 4-80, 5-70, or 9-60. The first number is the count of protrusions (sides) around the Ratchet's base — a stock Dran Sword ships with a 3-60F, three protrusions, for example. The second number is height, read in tenths of a millimetre rather than whole millimetres: a "-60" Ratchet stands 6.0mm tall, and a "-80" Ratchet stands 8.0mm tall. Knight Lance's stock 4-80HN (four protrusions, 8.0mm) is a full two millimetres taller than a 4-60 with the same protrusion count would be.

Why It Changes How a Combo Plays

Height sets the combo's overall stack height, shifts its centre of gravity, and determines the exact point above the stadium floor where the Blade makes contact. Shorter Ratchets in the 60 family keep the stack low and the centre of gravity down, which tends to suit balance- and stamina-leaning builds and lets the Blade fight along the lower line of an opponent's profile.
