Mini 4WD Brakes and Bank-Through Tuning

Brakes are a section-specific speed-control tool, not a permanent drag device. Front brakes act earlier than rear brakes, so begin with a small, measured contact patch and test the landing or slope that needs help.

Choose sponge for the problem

Brake sponge grade and thickness change how strongly the car slows. Add or trim material gradually. If a car is safe but slow everywhere, remove brake before changing motor or gearing.

Set up bank-through deliberately

On banked turns, angled plates can keep sponge from dragging through the bank while still engaging on flatter approaches and downslopes. Check contact with the actual track rather than guessing from the bench.
