Beyblade X Basic Line (BX) Guide
BX is the Basic Line, the original Beyblade X parts system. Takara Tomy launched it in Japan on 15 July 2023 with four Starters — BX-01 Dran Sword 3-60F, BX-02 Hells Scythe 4-60T, BX-03 Wizard Arrow 4-80B and BX-04 Knight Shield 3-80N — each at ¥1,980 and each bundled with a winder launcher. BX introduced the Blade / Ratchet / Bit order, and most later tops keep it — but not all 2025-26 releases do: CX tops with ratchet-integrated Bits (CX-07 PegasusBlast ATr, CX-11 EmperorMight HOp) fuse the Ratchet and Bit into one part, and since February 2026 UX Expand Blades (for example UX-21 HellsNether) integrate the Ratchet into the Blade, so several current tops stack only two parts.
What "Basic" actually means on the parts
The official gear guide's BX description is a metal launcher hook and a weight balance aimed at stability, with metal concentrated more toward the centre of the Blade than on Unique Line releases. UX later pushed metal out to the rim and switched to a resin launcher hook; CX split the Blade into Lock Chip, Main Blade and Assist Blade. If you can read a BX name, you can read a UX name: Blade, then a Ratchet such as 3-60, then a Bit letter. Our parts explained page is the decoder; this page is the line that decoder started on.

BX-05 and BX-06 are the booster versions of Wizard Arrow and Knight Shield at ¥1,400 — same stock combos, no launcher. BX-07 was the original Start Dash Set (stadium plus launcher kit). Those four tops remain the cheapest way to learn type matchups without touching UX or CX naming. BX did not stop in 2023
The BX number line kept going: Phoenix Wing (BX-23), Cobalt Dragoon (BX-34), Whale Wave (BX-36), Samurai Calibur (BX-45), the Infinity Battle Entry Set (BX-46) and, in 2026, BX Expand with Dran Strike (BX-49). A BX code on a 2026 box can therefore mean a 2023 launch Starter or a current Expand Blade. Read the product page, not the two-letter prefix alone. Left-spin still needs a matching left launcher — Cobalt Dragoon is BX, but it does not use the right-spin winder that shipped with BX-01.
What to buy as a first BX deck
If you want one attacker, one stamina piece and one defence piece from this line, the launch four still map cleanly onto those jobs. Confirm the exact Ratchet and Bit in the box: later re-releases and Metal Coat versions reuse the Blade name with different numbers. Stadium and launchers are sold separately from a single Starter, which is why the starter vs booster page exists. Event eligibility is the organiser's call, including for older BX parts that many standard all-X events still accept.
