Mistake: spring-only, stock nylon, “I’ll upgrade gears when it strips”
The sector gear drags the piston back against the main spring. A heavier spring is more resistance every shot. Nylon teeth are matched to the stock spring; they are not waiting for a second chance. By the time you hear the grind, the rack or the sector is already missing a tooth, and metal shards in the grease will take the next gear with them. The fix is sequence, not bravery: feed and air seal first, then spring with metal gears and a piston that can take the load, then the MOSFET ahead of any hotter motor, then the pack. Mistake: hotter motor or pack, stock trigger contacts, no MOSFET
A MOSFET is a switch that keeps motor current off the trigger plates. It does not raise FPS. Skipping it while you raise current is how contacts pit and the launcher becomes “sometimes it fires.” The plates were never meant to be the fuse for a stalling speed motor on a heavy spring.
